   'Ayurveda Keralam 2012' Global Ayurveda Festival at Thiruvananthapuram, Kerala, India Top


Centre for Innovation in Science and Social Action (CISSA), Government of Kerala and the Ayurveda Fraternity of Kerala embark on a promising and pioneering event for mainstreaming Ayurveda specialties in Kerala, to promote it nationally and internationally for the benefit of global community. The first edition of the event Global Ayurveda Festival-Kerala (GAF-K) is scheduled to be held from 9 to 14 February 2012 at Kanakakkunnu Palace, Thiruvananthapuram, the capital city of Kerala state. Kerala is the state where Ayurveda has retained its traditional sanctity and which is popularly known as "Gods own country.

Experienced physicians from the Department of Indian Systems of Medicine and members of Ayurveda Medical Association of India will be taking classes to cover almost 10 lakh students in 3000 schools across the length and breadth of Kerala to tutor them on the benefits of Preventive, Promotive, and Curative aspects of Ayurveda in dealing with noncommunicable diseases. A Pre-conference workshop (7-8 Feb) will include live demo and practical lectures on methods and applications of Kerala specialties of Ayurveda and Panchakarma. International seminar-Ayurveda for Noncommunicable Diseases (NCDs) (9-11 Feb), which focuses on the strengths of Ayurveda in the prevention and management of NCDs will bring together some of the best theoreticians and clinicians from all over the country and abroad. Papers can be submitted for oral/poster presentations on major theme areas, such as diabetes, hypertension, and coronary heart disease, liver disorders, neurological diseases, pulmonary diseases, gender-specific NCDs, Mental disorders, Obesity, Geriatric care, Healthy life style practices, and degenerative diseases. Last date for submission of abstracts is January 10, 2012, and for full paper is January 25, 2012.

The 63rd Indian Pharmaceutical Congress organized by Indian Pharmaceutical Congress Association (IPCA) will be held in Bengaluru from December 16 to 18, 2011. Continuing the Vision 2020 theme over last few years, the theme this year is "Vision 2020: India - The Pharma Power House."
